Just wanted to post a portion from an "e-devotional" regarding suffering that I often read in the mornings (http://www.gnpcb.org/esv/devotions/daily.light/):
"...we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.—It is for discipline that you have to endure. God is treating you as sons. For what son is there whom his father does not discipline? If you are left without discipline, in which all have participated, then you are illegitimate children and not sons. . . . For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it. Therefore lift your drooping hands and strengthen your weak knees. [emphasis mine]" (Romans 5:3-5; Hebrews 12:7, 8, 11, 12)
My hope and prayer is that in whatever we face today that the Lord would strengthen us through our sufferings by understanding our humble reliance on His sufficient grace (II Corinthians 12:9&10)
